EPRID Welcomes the European Parliament Intergroup on Freedom of Religion or Belief

To the Members of the European Parliament on behalf of the European Platform Against Religious Intolerance and Discrimination (EPRID)

Dear Members of the European Parliament,

We are EPRID – the European Platform against Religious Intolerance and Discrimination. EPRID is a network of civil society organisations and religious bodies engaging with the European institutions in Brussels on matters of freedom of religion or belief, in line with Article 18 of the ICCPR.

We extend our congratulations on the approval of the European Parliament Intergroup on Freedom of Religion, Belief and Conscience. As we have previously stated, this is one of several concrete ways for the European Parliament to show its commitment to upholding and promoting Freedom or religion or belief (FoRB) and other fundamental human rights.

EPRID and its members are pleased with this outcome and stand ready to support the Intergroup in its vital work. As you know, FoRB is a human right that is intertwined with other human rights. We encourage MEPs who are not directly involved with the Intergroup to engage with it and contribute to fostering FoRB for all, both within Europe and internationally.

We look forward to collaborating with the Intergroup and MEPs in advancing FoRB and ensuring that it is respected and protected for everyone, both believers and non-believers.

Once again, congratulations on this important milestone.

With best wishes,
